Privacy Policy

MediaConvert (hereinafter referred to as "the App") takes the protection of users' personal information seriously. This Privacy Policy (hereinafter referred to as "this Policy") explains what personal information the App collects and how it is used and managed.

Article 1 (Information We Collect)

The App may collect the following information:

1.1 Information Provided by Users

• Files to be converted (videos, audio, images)
• Photo Library access permission (only when selecting images)
• File access permission (only when selecting from Files app)
• Contact information provided when making inquiries

1.2 Automatically Collected Information

• Device information (OS version, device model)
• Advertising identifier (IDFA)
• Information about the App usage (conversion history, features used, etc.)
• Ad performance data

Article 2 (Purpose of Use of Information)

The collected personal information is used for the following purposes:

• To provide and operate the App
• To provide file conversion functionality
• To respond to user inquiries
• To improve the App and develop new features
• To identify users who violate the Terms of Service or attempt to use the service for illegal or improper purposes, and to refuse their use
• To notify users of changes to the App's terms, policies, etc.
• To deliver and measure the effectiveness of advertisements
• For purposes incidental to the above purposes

Article 3 (Handling of File Conversions)

File conversions in the App are processed locally on the user's device. Files to be converted, converted files, and other data are never transmitted to or stored on the operator's servers.

Converted files are saved to the device's Documents folder, where users can freely access, share, and delete them.

However, the following technical information may be collected and used for service provision and quality improvement:

• Conversion success/failure statistics (anonymized)
• Conversion processing time
• File formats used (does not include specific file content)
• Error information (such as crash reports)

Article 4 (Use of Third-Party Services)

The App uses the following third-party services. These services operate according to their own privacy policies.

4.1 Apple AVFoundation

Used for video and audio conversion functionality (local processing on device)

4.2 Google AdMob

Used for ad delivery

4.3 App Tracking Transparency (ATT)

On iOS 14.5 and later, ad tracking is performed based on user consent

Article 5 (Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties)

The operator will not provide personal information to third parties without prior user consent, except in the following cases:

• When required by law
• When necessary to protect the life, body, or property of a person and it is difficult to obtain the person's consent
• When particularly necessary to improve public health or promote the sound development of children and it is difficult to obtain the person's consent
• When necessary to cooperate with a national agency, local government, or a person entrusted by them in executing affairs prescribed by law, and obtaining the person's consent may hinder the execution of such affairs

Article 6 (Data Retention Period)

Collected personal information is retained for the following periods:

• Converted files: Stored in device's local storage (until deleted by user)
• Usage logs: Maximum 6 months
• Advertising identifier: For the period necessary for ad delivery
• Inquiry history: Maximum 2 years

However, if retention is required by law or necessary for dispute resolution, information may be retained beyond the above periods.

Article 7 (Disclosure of Personal Information)

When requested by a person to disclose their personal information, the operator will disclose it to that person without delay. However, if disclosure falls under any of the following cases, all or part of the information may not be disclosed, and if a decision is made not to disclose, notice will be given without delay.

• When there is a risk of harming the life, body, property, or other rights and interests of the person or a third party
• When there is a risk of significantly hindering the proper implementation of the operator's business
• When it would violate other laws and regulations

Article 8 (Correction and Deletion of Personal Information)

If a user's personal information held by the operator is incorrect, the user may request the operator to correct, add, or delete (hereinafter "correct, etc.") the personal information through procedures specified by the operator.

If the operator receives a request from a user as described in the preceding paragraph and determines that it is necessary to respond to the request, the operator will promptly correct, etc. the personal information.

Article 9 (Personal Information Deletion Request)

Users can request deletion of personal information by the following methods:

• Uninstall the app (data on the device will be deleted)
• Turn off ad tracking from iOS Settings
• Request deletion via email to support@butterfalcon.com

Personal information will be deleted within 30 days of receiving the deletion request. However, information required to be retained by law or necessary for dispute resolution may be retained for the necessary period.

Article 10 (Ad Tracking)

The App uses Google AdMob to deliver advertisements. The following information may be collected for ad delivery:

• Advertising identifier (IDFA)
• Device information
• Ad display and click history

Users can limit ad tracking from iOS Settings:

• Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking

Article 11 (Security)

The operator implements appropriate technical and organizational security measures to prevent loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction of personal information.

The App minimizes the risk of data leakage over the network by completing file conversions on the device.

Article 12 (Children's Privacy)

The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If it is discovered that a user under 13 has provided personal information, it will be promptly deleted.

Article 13 (Changes to Privacy Policy)

The content of this Policy may be changed without notice to users, except for matters separately provided in this Policy or other laws and regulations.

In the case of important changes, users will be notified through in-app notifications or website announcements. The changed Privacy Policy will take effect from the time it is displayed in the App.

Article 15 (Applicable Law and Jurisdiction)

The interpretation and application of this Policy shall be governed by Japanese law. Any disputes concerning this Policy shall be subject to the exclusive agreed jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court.
